Duravit was founded in Hornberg, in the Black Forest, in 1817. The company was founded by Friedrich Horn. Until the end of the century, production consisted exclusively of earthenware; over time, the company expanded into tableware and gradually moved into sanitaryware. Today, Duravit is an international company employing over 5,500 people worldwide. Duravit is a tradition of innovation. In collaboration with architects, it has been setting bathroom trends for almost 30 years, since 1987 when it launched its first bathroom design series, Giamo. The collaboration with Philippe Starck, which began with the Starck collection in 1994, proved to be a turning point. Through extraordinary designs and products of the highest quality, it meets the most diverse and individual needs of its customers. It brings comfort to the bathroom, whilst respecting the environment, with which Duravit’s production is naturally linked due to its first factory, which still operates today in the vicinity of Germany’s largest national park. Furthermore, Duravit AG has been certified for its commitment to environmental protection in accordance with the ISO 14001 standard.
