Cork is made from the bark of the cork oak. Strips of cork are carefully cut by hand from the trunk without damaging the tree. Although it takes around 25 years to harvest the first crop of cork from a planted tree, the wait is well worth it.

Cork stands out for a number of attributes that no other material can match: it is natural, known for its lightness, flexibility, insulating properties and almost complete impermeability. However, there are other aspects that set cork apart from other materials: it is a renewable resource, recyclable and biodegradable — these are particularly important aspects for Muratto.

Finally: because cork comes from nature and is truly natural, it is impossible to find two identical pieces. Thanks to the combination of nature and unique design, Muratto is able to offer a wide range of textures, colours and shapes.
