Description, construction and characteristics of the gate

The Marc-Ok fire-rated curtain door consists of the following components: the curtain, guide rails, a winding shaft, shaft brackets and a VIC-type drive. The curtain itself consists of three layers of multi-layer fabric for the EI60 class door and five layers for the EI120 class. The main component of the curtain’s multi-layer fabric is glass fibre reinforced with steel wire. The upper edge of the curtain is attached to the winding shaft. Along the lower edge of the curtain is a counterweight that ensures the door is correctly tensioned (no creases and proper winding), which provides additional rigidity. The winding shaft brackets are fixed to the building partition. The winding shaft and brackets are housed within a cover. Dimensions: 80 x 120 mm. The guide cover is made of 0.7 mm thick galvanised steel sheet. Guide covers and cassettes can be made from galvanised sheet metal in three standard RAL colours: 7035, 7016, 9002 and 9010. Other colours or a stainless steel finish are available. At the customer’s request, a smoke-proof version is available, or a wide range of electrical accessories can be connected, such as a fire alarm system, gate position monitoring or access control. Smaller gates, instead of an electric drive and sensors connected to the SAP system, can be fitted with a thermal fuse and a safety system which, thanks to a shock-absorbing spring, prevents the curtain from falling too rapidly, thereby preventing the risk of personal injury.

Application

Marc-Ok flexible fire-rated curtain doors are designed to separate fire compartments in accordance with current fire safety regulations, both inside and outside buildings and on transport routes.

Thanks to the low lintel height required for installation, the curtain is ideal for building partitions, particularly in underground car parks and shopping centres, where every centimetre of usable space counts and minimising the overall dimensions of the doors is essential. For outdoor installations, it can be mounted on spacer brackets to prevent thermal bridging.

Marc-Ok are flexible fire compartment closures and, due to their very high fire resistance rating, can be successfully used as an alternative to passive fire protection systems with more restrictive installation requirements. They can also be installed in tandem with a door or roller shutter without fire resistance.

Terms and Conditions

In the case of electrically operated roller shutters, the curtain is wound onto a shaft and held in the open position by a brake or a self-locking drive gear. In the event of a fire alarm, the curtain is released and moves to the closed position.

Marc-Ok roller shutters with a width and height of no more than 2.5 m do not require an electric drive. The door is then activated by a thermal fuse, which releases at a temperature of approx. 74 °C, causing the curtain to unfold and seal off the fire compartment. A torsion spring located in the shaft ensures a constant closing speed, and reopening the door does not require the use of additional components, such as cranks. It is possible to manufacture doors with non-standard dimensions and doors with extended technical specifications – following individual consultation.
