Roof access

It’s not worth skimping on a roof access system. Most people who decide it’s an unnecessary expense and opt not to install chimney ladders realise they were wrong as soon as the chimney or aerial breaks down for the first time.

Walking on a roof without chimney steps or walkways can be both dangerous and cause damage to the roof covering. The cost of repairing the roof or hiring a cherry picker to access the chimney can far exceed the cost of roof access systems. You should not skimp on quality either – it ensures that the system will be safe and will serve you for many years.

Elements of the access system – namely ladder rungs and chimney ladders – should be present on every roof.

Although the law requires these accessories to be installed only by developers constructing roofs with a pitch of over 25% and covered with brittle materials, experience shows that a good access system is also useful on less steep roofs. The placement of chimney steps is closely linked to the roof pitch. On gently sloping roofs (up to 30˚), it is recommended to install a step in every second row of tiles. On steeply pitched roofs, a step should be installed in every row. The steps must form a ‘ladder’ allowing for free movement across the roof.

All our components meet the criteria set out in European Standard EN 516. The access system we offer is easy to install and guarantees the highest level of safety. The steps and handrails are secured using various types of fixings, depending on the type of roofing material.
