Cable channels
For practical reasons, electrical cables and wires are often routed through corridors, from where they then branch out into adjacent rooms. As corridors generally serve as escape routes, these installations pose a very serious hazard. In the event of a cable fire caused by, for example, a brief power surge, evacuation can be significantly hampered by the rapid spread of smoke and high concentrations of toxic fire gases.
From the perspective of passive fire protection, two solutions can be proposed:
- stand-alone ceiling partitions in the Promat system (model 120.80),
- cable ducts made from PROMATECT® boards, creating a separate ‘fire compartment’ for the cables.
PROMATECT® cable ducts protect cables and electrical wiring from the effects of a surrounding fire, ensuring the continuity of power and signal supply for 30, 60, 90 and 120 minutes respectively.
The use of PROMATECT® cable ducts ensures the full efficiency and effective operation of equipment and systems that must remain functional in the event of a fire.
Such devices include, amongst others:
- sprinkler systems,
- fire alarm systems,
- fire lifts,
- emergency lighting,
- smoke extraction systems,
- emergency electrical systems, etc.
PROMATECT®-L500
Silicate-cement fire-resistant panels, non-combustible and asbestos-free, with a wide range of applications in building construction. Moisture-resistant, comparable to wood in terms of workability. Manufactured in accordance with ISO 9002/EN 29002; ISO 14001.
Applications:
• Walls.
• Cable ducts.
• Smoke extraction and ventilation ducts.
Advantages:
• Moisture-resistant.
• Properties remain unchanged in conditions of high humidity.
• Do not lose their fire-retardant properties over time.
