Xella: a pioneer of BIM in Poland

Xella was one of the first manufacturers of building materials in Poland to develop an add-on for Revit, the world’s most popular tool utilising BIM technology. Its developer – Autodesk, known for AutoCAD, among other things – is a leading player in the field of software for architects and structural engineers.

The REV-X add-on, developed by Xella Polska, is a specialised application that acts as a self-installing library containing all Ytong, Silka and Multipor products. It allows designers to automatically select specific blocks, lintels or other elements for their projects. These can be viewed immediately in a 3D model. At the same time, quantitative analyses of the materials used, along with their prices, are available. It is therefore possible to generate a cost estimate at any time, as well as send an order for the purchase of materials to the relevant distribution points.

The REV-X add-on enables designers to quickly select the optimal material solutions – the best thickness for structural or external walls to ensure they can withstand the anticipated loads and meet the relevant thermal requirements.
