Since the late 1980s, RHEINZINK has been the only manufacturer to have developed a pre-patination process. Since then, the grey-blue or graphite-grey patina typical of zinc has been produced in the factory, shortening the natural patination process, which often takes years. A unique feature is that during the accelerated patination process at the factory, all the natural properties of the patina are preserved, and the surface remains suitable for soldering.

A key advantage is the surface’s self-healing effect, whereby scratches (e.g. caused during installation or use) are smoothed out through the natural patination process. RHEINZINK-prePATINA sheet metal is environmentally friendly and maintenance-free, making it the ideal material for use as any type of external cladding on a building.
