Platform gratings are made of glass fibre reinforced plastic (GRP), also known as composite, from high-quality synthetic resins and glass fibres. In the first stage of production, continuous strands of fibreglass (rowing) are stretched on forming devices, and then the fibres are saturated with synthetic resins and cured. The grating is reinforced in the same way in the longitudinal and transverse directions, which gives it uniform strength in all directions, and any edges of the grating can be used as load-bearing elements.
Depending on the type of resin used to saturate the fibreglass, we obtain a laminate:
- chemically resistant standard (polyester resin-based),
- with increased chemical resistance (vinyl ester resin-based),
- flame retardant according to PN-EN 13501-1:2007 and ITB 401/2014 (based on self-extinguishing resin).
Platform gratings can be manufactured with a smooth or anti-slip surface. In the case of products with an anti-slip surface, silicate particles with a diameter of 0.3–0.8 mm are embedded in the working surface during manufacture.

Thanks to its lower weight compared to steel, installation is quick and easy, without the need for heavy equipment. Weight: only 11.4 kg/m² (25 mm) or 18.7 kg/m² (38 mm).
