Air handling units with a heat pump module

Product descriptionTechnical dataDocumentation

Application

The MISTRAL HOME PC air handling unit is a complete, integrated system designed for residential buildings (up to approx. 200 m² of ventilated floor area), which performs key functions including supplyand exhaust ventilation, as well as efficient heating and cooling through the supply of fresh air.

Characteristics

MISTRAL HOME PC is a compact system that combines a heat recovery module with an enthalpy heat exchanger and an air-to-air compressor-based heat pump module. The unit provides two-stage heat and cooling recovery, achieving a high energy efficiency class A and capable of covering between approx. 50% and up to 80% of a building’s heating requirements; however, it should be noted that it acts as a supplementary heating source, not the sole one in the building. The enthalpy exchanger also effectively recovers moisture from the extracted air, ensuring an optimal indoor climate. The heat pump operates using a natural refrigerant – propane (R290). This is significant due to its low GWP (Global Warming Potential), making the system a highly environmentally friendly solution. Maximum efficiency in heating and cooling is achieved when used in conjunction with a ground-source heat exchanger (GWC).

Equipment

  • An air-to-air heat pump compressor module, integrated into a single housing (no outdoor unit).
  • High-efficiency enthalpy heat exchanger for heat and moisture recovery.
  • Energy-efficient, high-efficiency EC fans.
  • LongLIFE standard air filters, meaning they need replacing up to four times less often.
  • Automatic, modulated bypass with a servomotor, enabling smooth control of heat recovery.
  • Casing made of PVC panels, insulated and soundproofed.
  • Microprocessor-controlled anti-freeze system (optional)

Automation and control

The unit is fitted with a factory-installed, fully wired control system. This ensures fully automatic control of the two-stage heat recovery and air treatment process.

A controller featuring a weekly schedule and a wall-mounted touchscreen panel, with the option of remote control via the MODBUS protocol or a dedicated WebManipulator. Extensive control options tailored to specific needs (e.g. support for CO2 and humidity sensors, control of zone dampers, zone heaters/coolers, and control of the electro-ionisation filter via a shared control panel).
