BSP BALCONY PARTITIONS
Nowadays, residential construction very often incorporates continuous balconies divided between individual flats by means of balcony partitions. There are a number of solutions that make use of BSP products. Below, we present the three solutions most commonly used in projects.
1. Top-and-bottom-mounted partition design, using KWR6 aluminium profiles
Where it is possible to fix the structure to the top and bottom balcony slabs, KWR6 profiles (detailed description of the profiles on p. …) can be used to form the partition structure. These profiles are fixed to horizontal rectangular aluminium profiles, which in turn are fixed to the balcony slab using chemically anchored threaded rods. The rods passing through the floor layers are relatively easy to seal with insulation. The advantage of this solution is the use of aluminium structural elements alone, which are easy to work with and transport. The structure is clad on both sides, making it virtually invisible.
2. A partition design with side-to-bottom (or side-to-top) mounting, using a steel frame and Omega-type RW profiles
If it is not possible to fix the system to the upper balcony slab (e.g. on the top floor), or if it is possible to fix it to the upper balcony slab but there is no permission to attach to the lower balcony slab and pierce the insulation layers, we use a side-wall mounting. In this case, however, due to the less favourable static configuration, we use a stiffer structure in the form of a custom-designed steel frame. We attach vertical Omega-type RW profiles to the frame (detailed description of the profiles on p. …), adjusting them with shims to create a level surface. As in the first case, the structure is clad on both sides, making it virtually invisible.
3. Partition with double-sided board infill, using KRP profiles
Regardless of whether it is fixed at the top, sides or bottom, the partition can be designed as a slim structure with a single-layer panel infill. For this purpose, we use a custom-designed support frame to which we attach KRP profiles (detailed description of the profiles on page …). The infill, which may be HPL board, glass or another material, is secured in the KRP profiles using a snap-fit mechanism. In this case, the panel filling the partition must be double-sided and the partition structure is visible, so it is recommended to paint it in the colour of your choice. The advantage of this partition solution is its slim profile and relatively low cost.
