What is a buffer?

The buffer acts as a literal buffer between the building and the vehicle. Accidents can happen very quickly on a loading bay. A lorry driver may make a mistake whilst reversing, either when parking or when assessing the situation. This results in the lorry making direct contact with the loading ramp. This can lead to damage to both the vehicle and the building. Consequently, the costs can be very high. To avoid accidents and the associated costs, bumpers can be fitted on both sides of the loading bridge. These bumpers prevent damage by absorbing part of the impact force from the vehicle.
