FLOOR-TO-FLOOR CEILING SYSTEM
BSP FLOOR TO FLOOR CEILING SYSTEM – Technical Specifications
1. SYSTEM
The BSP FTF system (also known as the storey-by-storey or ‘Floor to Floor’ system) has been designed to minimise the number of point fixings between the façade and the building structure. The essence of the BSP FTF system lies in the increased span of the bracket installation, typically arranged on a store-by-store basis. The brackets are fixed to the building’s structural elements, most commonly to the face of the floor slab. This solution is mainly used on older buildings where the masonry infill provides a very unstable substrate, or on steel structures with large rafter spans. The system consists of BSP K1 and BSP K2 façade brackets and the BSP KWR6 profile.
2. CONSOLES
The high strength properties of I-beam brackets with 8 mm thick walls meet the increased requirements for the load-bearing capacity and stiffness of support elements, enabling them to withstand significant stresses resulting from the arrangement of fixing points solely at floor levels.
3. PROFILES
The BSP KWR6 vertical load-bearing profiles have been structurally reinforced to safely withstand increased wind suction and pressure loads. The closed cross-section of the profile prevents it from twisting or warping. Furthermore, this profile is highly resistant to compression, meaning that fixed fixing points can also be located at the bottom of the structure. The specially shaped grooved surface of the front face significantly increases the durability of the joint at the interface with the external cladding.
4. GENERAL
All components of the BSP aluminium substructure are classified as durability class B in accordance with PN-EN 1999-1-1:2011 and may be used without protective coatings in environments with atmospheric corrosion categories C1, C2 and C3 according to PN-EN ISO 12944-2:2001. Following an additional protective treatment – anodising – they may also be used in environments with atmospheric corrosion categories C4 and C5. BSP aluminium substructure components are classified, without testing, in fire reaction class A1 in accordance with standard PN-EN 13501-1+A1:2010 on the basis of European Commission Decisions No 96/603/EC, 2000/605/EC and 2003/424/EC. The BSP FTF substructure system is covered by National Technical Assessment ITB-KOT-2018/0434 “Product kits for the construction of BSP substructures – System for fixing façade cladding”. It also holds a positive opinion from the ITB regarding paragraph 225 of the Regulation of the Minister of Infrastructure on the technical conditions to be met by buildings and their location.
The BSP FTF substructure system should be installed in accordance with a workshop design drawn up by designers with appropriate expertise in the field of structural engineering and construction. The layout of the substructure and the spacing of the components (the strength of the entire system) should be verified by structural calculations prepared by a structural engineer with relevant qualifications in the field of structural engineering and construction.
